Hey, I'm Tyler. My wife and I are co-founders of Blended Bean Coffee. We are a small-batch coffee roastery in Cincinnati, OH. We believe in bringing high-quality, sustainable coffee blends to the market based on our own tasting profiles. We spent over a decade in the alcohol industry where we carefully crafted our palettes and tasting abilities. We have brought that same expertise and knowledge to the coffee world.

  • Lemonade Espresso: A Controversial Coffee Concoction
Tyler tried 2oz espresso with 6oz sparkling lemonade, finding the aroma "incredibly interesting and complex." He notes the drink's tartness "overpowered by a tartness that is somehow bitter and acidic." Tyler likens it to a negroni, suggesting fans might enjoy this polarizing mix. He plans to revisit it in summer, noting the foam's bitterness can be off-putting.
  • Spice Up Your Brew: Cinnamon Tops Coffee Flavor Experiment
Tyler experimented with adding spices directly to coffee grounds. "Cinnamon emerged as the standout," he notes, infusing the brew with a warm, cider-like flavor reminiscent of the holiday season. This innovative approach highlights how spices can enhance the coffee experience.
  • Burr vs. Blade: The Coffee Grinder Debate Settled
Tyler emphasizes, “There is absolutely no reason why the average person should be using blade grinders.” Burr grinders offer consistency and precise grind size, crucial for perfect coffee. While blade grinders are cheaper, modern burr grinders are becoming more affordable. For those with limited mobility or budget, blade grinders are a viable option, but burr grinders remain the superior choice.
