I'm Dr. Tyler Wasson, Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Certified Mindfulness Teacher. My expertise lies at the crossroads of psychology, mindfulness and meditation, and the transformative journey from a conservative religious upbringing towards a broader spiritual understanding. My background isn't just rooted in Clinical Psychology; it's also enriched by my graduate studies in Theology and a self-guided dive into Buddhism. I was also a bit of an overachiever in college, double majoring in Psychology and Music (Piano), reflecting a diverse set of interests and skills.

Growing up in a conservative Christian environment has deeply informed my perspective, especially in understanding the complex relationship between faith, identity, and mental wellness. This isn't just a part of my history; it's a critical aspect of my approach to psychological well-being, especially when exploring the nuanced challenges and opportunities it presents.

As the Founder/CEO of Freedom Within Reach, Inc., the mindfulness/coaching side of my professional endeavors, my commitment to mindfulness is not just professional; it's a personal practice that I integrate with a comprehensive understanding of psychological principles. This fusion is not about leaving one's past behind but about weaving it into a more coherent and fulfilling narrative of self.

For reporters looking for an insightful commentator on mental health, the impact of religious upbringing on personal growth, or the intersection of psychology and spirituality, I offer a nuanced, well-informed perspective. My expertise is particularly relevant in discussions about the LGBTQ+ community, where I draw from both personal experience and professional practice.

I'm open to sharing my insights on these topics, aiming to provide a narrative that is not just informed by research and theory but also by personal experience and genuine human connection.
