Van Hurd is an executive chef at Citizen Chicken and Donuts and you may have seen him on season 6 and 17 of Hell's Kitchen alongside famous celebrity chef Gordan Ramsey. After his time in Hell’s Kitchen, Van relocated to Connecticut and began work at the Country Club of Farmington. He served as Executive Sous Chef for Jordan Caterers, voted by Connecticut Magazine readers as the “Best Catering Company in CT” 12 years in a row. He was asked to join the ranks of RiverHouse Catering as Executive Sous Chef. Riverhouse Catering known for deliciously different food, exceptional service, and creative style. Van then excepted the position as Executive Chef to help launch Sayulita in South Glastonbury, CT focusing on “Inspired Mexican cuisine”. Van continued his culinary journey after leaving Sayulita in 2016, becoming the Executive Chef and Pit Master for Taino Smokehouse in Middletown, CT. Van then returned to Hell’s Kitchen All Star’s Season 17!

Hurd received his culinary degree from The Art Institute of Dallas in 2007. His ambition and drive earned him the top spot in his class. While finishing his degree, Hurd mastered the fundamentals of cooking and started looking for the next rung of the ladder.
