Dr. Wood is a University Professor and former Museum Administrator/Curator specializing in anthropology and museum studies with emphasis on the history and culture of environmentalism, material culture and identity, globalization, and tourism. He was previously Director of the Centennial Museum and Chihuahuan Desert Gardens at the University of Texas El Paso; Assistant Professor of Anthropology & Museum Sts. and Interim Director of the Museum of Culture and Environment at Central Washington University; Assistant Curator of Latin American Anthropology at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County; Academic Programs Coordinator at the Center for Latin American Studies, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign; and Visiting Fellow in the Anthropology and Global Studies Programs at Johns Hopkins University. Most recent work is focused on the transnational lives of Zapotec weavers and textiles, representations of nature in museums, zoos, and other public institutions, as well as eco-tourism and biodiversity on the Pacific Coast of Oaxaca.
