Atlanta Business Chronicle is looking for a Digital Editor to manage our digital news operation.
The Digital Editor is the primary gatekeeper for digital content, working with the Editor in Chief, Managing Editor, and reporters to curate, edit and publish content in our daily newsletters and on our website.
The Digital Editor reports and writes content as needed. They must thrive in a fast-paced news environment and take responsibility for day-to-day management of all digital content. They conceptualize and produce online galleries and slideshows, using photos and data.
This job requires solid news judgment, strong headline-writing skills, familiarity with content management systems, knowledge of SEO, site metrics, and the best practices for online journalism. It requires the ability to work quickly and efficiently under deadline pressure and an eagerness to collaborate with editors and reporters.
The Digital Editor must balance the highest standards for content with ambitious daily web traffic goals.
Job Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities, work schedules and/or location may change based on evolving business needs.
Edit and publish hard news and other engaging daily online content.
Work closely with the EIC and ME to develop our two daily newsletters under deadline pressure.

Report and write important digital content.
Generate and execute digital story ideas with other editors.
Gather and upload graphics, photos, and other imagery.
Track metrics, measure audience engagement and help staff identify and deploy tactics to meet traffic and engagement goals.
Manage social media feeds and execute on strategies to build engagement.
Skills & Experience
The ability to prioritize coverage for the newsletters and website.
An ability to break news in a highly competitive media market.
Confidence in managing reporters.
Vigilance for knowing the biggest news in the local business ecosystem.
Broad knowledge of the economy.
Detail oriented and knowledge of AP style.
Ability to multitask and work in a highly collaborative, high-energy environment.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
5 years’ experience in a newsroom environment.
Strong headline writing and copy-editing skills.
Ability to analyze and distill data.
SEO experience.
Video production, HTML and data management experience a plus.
Atlanta market knowledge desired.
