JOB DESCRIPTION

TCR recently announced several key hires to meet the increased demand for our journalism. We're now in the midst of a redesign, having recently hired a Chief Product Officer who spent several years leading The WSJ's digital design team; he will be applying his talents to building us a name, visual identity, and brand that’s scalable and more accurately reflects our mission and core values as committed journalists.

While we are mired in that important reboot, we're more focused than ever on hiring exceptionally qualified journalists for the team of talent we are building.

TCR is seeking dedicated journalists with strong English writing skills and who already have a foundation in reporting mechanics.

Candidates should provide TCR with several PUBLISHED news clips showing us your ability to get information from people who don't want to give it to you. Show us HIGH-IMPACT stories. We're less interested but not opposed to looking at features.

Role Description

This is a contract remote role for a Financial Reporter. The Financial Reporter is responsible for developing, researching, and writing stories that cover financial and business news about the fast-growing pet industry, including and most importantly deals, litigation, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory work; this reporter will also be responsible for covering the dynamic pet insurance market.

The Financial Reporter will analyze information to create well-researched articles and work to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced news environment.

Qualifications

Reporting and News Writing skills
Experience in analyzing financial and business news
Business Journalism and Finance skills
Strong analytical and research skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and remotely
Master's degree in Journalism, Finance, Business, or related field a plus
