The Daily Dot seeks a skilled designer with substantial experience in illustration, photo editing, and brand design tailored to support online editorial platforms. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in media or news and the agility to respond rapidly to editorial needs, ensuring the production of high-quality visual content under tight deadlines.
This is a fully remote, contract position with the possibility of extended hours/opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Create quick-turnaround art requests to accompany breaking news and feature stories
Collaborate closely with editors and writers to deliver impactful, on-brand visual content that enhances storytelling
Work alongside the Art Desk team to develop new and innovative approaches to enhance visual content workflows
Maintain and organize files and applications, ensuring that all assets are current and easily accessible
Source, edit, and properly credit all visual collateral, adhering to copyright and attribution standards
Contribute fresh ideas for illustrations, photo choices, and design approaches that align with the brand’s voice and editorial needs
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Graphic Designer with a strong portfolio showcasing editorial illustrations, photo editing, and brand design
Background in news media or a similar fast-paced environment is highly desirable
Proficiency in design software (Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)
Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with a remote team
Adaptability and creativity in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
Commitment to deadlines and attention to detail in all aspects of design work
Familiarity with copyright and image risk issues
