Guardian US is seeking a versatile, creative, and experienced senior editor to work on its special series team. These high impact projects, frequently on social or environmental justice themes, run for a year or more and often include a rich mix of formats including news, features, investigations, visual stories and interactives. The current special projects include America’s Dirty Divide, Our Unequal Earth, The Fight for Democracy and an upcoming project on inequality in housing. The senior editor will help lead coverage on housing, the climate crisis and environmental justice. This editor will have a passion for making serious issues come alive, and will be involved in the entire story process, from assigning to editing, packaging and visuals presentation. They will have excellent project management skills, and will set overall series goals as well as respond to news developments. They should be a deft editor and headline writer, and have an interest in story forms beyond standard text. Investigative experience is a significant plus. Often the projects will require the editor to cultivate and manage a network of freelance contributors.
