When I was 9 years old, my hometown took over a local historic farm to turn it into a park. As someone who loved the farm’s place in our community, I was outraged. So I went through the local newspapers to gather the addresses to send letters to the editors and share my thoughts. I didn’t know it at the time, but I had built a media list and wrote and sent pitches.
