Lois Collins

Reporter and Columnist at Deseret News

I am a long-time reporter, columnist and editor, a storyteller who enjoys the challenge of taking what's technical and hard to understand and conveying it to a general audience. I have been plying this craft for three decades and it has been very good to me. I have received two Sigma Delta Chi awards from the national Society of Professional Journalists and many dozen other local and national writing awards, as well as the national Michael E. DeBakey Award for science reporting in 2012. I have twice won the national Council on Contemporary Families reporting award. I love the challenges of reporting and the companionship of the work world. I have never lost the sense of wonder or the knowledge that it is a privilege to be trusted with someone's personal challenges and experiences.
