Sports Reporter

The Polk County Itemizer-Observer located in Dallas, Oregon, is seeking a sports reporter. The Itemizer-Observer covers five high schools across Polk County, plus Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Oregon. This is a full-time position that requires 35 hours a week. Duties include coverage of high school sports, both written and photography, along with previews, and features. The sports reporter will also be asked to cover and write additional news and feature stories from time to time.

The successful applicant will maintain a social media presence on Twitter and assist in managing other social media platforms. The sports reporter will also asked to do sports updates on the internet radio site, Polkio Radio. InDesign and Photoshop skills are preferred. Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field preferred, though equivalent experience is also acceptable. Recent college graduates are welcome to apply.
