Hatty Willmoth

Food & Nutrition Reporter at Newsweek

I work for the Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION), writing features, co-editing a cookbook, making podcasts, and doing some communications work too.

I'm also a freelance journalist and usually write health, wellness, fitness and nutrition content. I have bylines in the Independent, Fit&Well, Time & Leisure, Sussex Bylines, South West Londoner and Varsity.

Prior to January 2023, I was the staff writer at Optimum Nutrition magazine, a quarterly publication with the Institute for Optimum Nutrition. As part of this role, I wrote features (and some news) about nutrition - generally longform pieces, often with interviews from experts, and always with full referencing. I also assisted with a lot of editorial and design tasks on the magazine, including working with freelancers.

I have a Gold-Standard NCTJ Level 5 Diploma in Journalism, which I completed with News Associates. This covers news, digital journalism, media law, shorthand at 100 words per minute, court reporting and public affairs.

I have work experience with online newspaper South West Londoner and luxury lifestyle magazine Time & Leisure.

In July, I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a First-Class BA in History. As a student, I wrote for student publications Varsity and The Cambridge Student, as well as my personal blog.

I have a YouTube channel with 250,000 views and 2,000 subscribers.
